Part 2 of my trip to Chile.
We drove up to the road head below Cero Toco, an extinct volcano of 5,600 metres. The road turned to dirt and at about 4,800 metres we hit snow and our vehicle could go no further. | ![]() |
Our walk started here heading for the valley ahead. | ![]() |
The desert hills are a wonderful rich reddish brown, the air crystal clear. | ![]() |
On the summit of Cero Toco with my good friend Aldo. The moutnaisn of Bolivia and the beautiful Laguna Verde in the background.
After this we returned to Santiago to take part in “Beyond the Peaks: Celebrating 20 Years from the first Chiean ascent of Everest” – that will be my next story. |
